When I coach job aspirants for interviews, I come across qualified candidates who have got rejected because they unknowingly have said 3 things which should never be said in any interview. What are these 3 things?
1] “I have not gone through your website. Can you tell me something about your company”.
Can you imagine you have not even done basic homework on the company and come for an interview. Why should the interviewer even consider you. It reflects lack of interest.
2] Do not talk ill about your current or ex employer company or your current or ex-boss.
We need to learn to handle our challenges. By talking negatively it only reflects your own weakness and gives a negative impression.
3] “I am appearing for multiple interviews so I thought of attending this one also”.
The recruiter will ask in his own mind – “What’s in it for me? Why did you come? Why should we hire you? You are applying to almost every job and seemingly by the way you have come here”. So with this kind of a statement you miss out on the opportunity to present your value proposition for the specific employer / job. The interviewer does not see any benefit.
So avoid saying these 3 things.
